Monday Manners

Hello, Everyone!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter. I spent the day with my roommate, Due, next door neighbor, Veronica, and their boyfriends. Guess what we did... An Easter Egg Hunt, of course! It was a lot of fun. I hid twenty eggs in the forest behind our apartments and it took them an hour to find them all. I have to give myself a pat on the back for that. Good job, Desi... Good job.

Anywho, it's Monday. I'm tired. It's supposed to rain. I am ill-prepared for my Lit and Greek classes tomorrow. At the moment, I'm pretending I don't care. I want to read stuff, but my brain is making me feel guilty for neglecting the things I SHOULD be doing. And I have to go to Training in an hour. Can you see why my stomach is in knots?

I think it's just a Monday thing. When Monday arrives, my body has this physical reaction in order to prepare my brain to get ready for the (nonexistent) SUCK that is bound to make up the rest of the week. It just wouldn't be a Monday if we didn't go through this process. I am SO proud of myself for working out my schedule in such a way that THIS DAY is not the beginning of my academic week.

But I'm writing this post to kind of say hey and kind of say sorry. I'm sorry for being out of touch lately and I promise to be better with that. I'll try to post on this blog AT LEAST once a week and I might start mixing in some writerly posts again along with the regular life updates. Just know that I love you guys and I haven't forgotten. If it seems like I have, let's just blame Monday. He, like all men, is the causer of EVERYTHING that is wrong with the world (tee-hee!).

Love,
Deserae

Presley- I checked out the blog and think it's tres chic! Thanks for checking it out, and thank Nicole for me! I adore her. Isn't she the bees knees?

Maya- No. NO. Do you hear me, Maya? NO. You're a great friend! Life gets in the way all the time. Don't you dare sweat not commenting--- I simply posted that to ask ya'll a favor. See? I was calling upon you. You guys--- and you especially--- already do so much for me. I knew asking for MORE attention might be a little selfish, but I had to ask. If I didn't, then I would still be talking circles around my own head. :) But anywho, did you see my comment on "Baby Talk?" I'm so happy for your family. I bet your little bro is just the cutest thing! So The Mortal Instruments, you say... I've been super reluctant to read that series because of some of the content, but I DO need a series challenge for July... So why not? TMI, it is. I can always rent them from the library, now that I think about it. Yes. J'adore, mon ami! Love ya, Maya. Thanks for answering my desperate plea! :)

Shout out to Nicole! Thank you for keeping me company on Elsewhere, Love. I owe you my sanity. Here--- I've even gift-wrapped it.

Why I Love Ya'll: An Ode to my Faithful Followers

In number, ya'll are twenty-eight,
But in truth, numbers never mattered to me.
Thank God numbers do not equate
The joy I feel infinitely.

You guys leave comments that keep me sane,
You care about me so much it's true!
that you keep me going when I'm feeling lame.
(Which is every other day so I must thank you.)

You put up with my every whim
And I whim a lot; I can't say why.
I tell you, "I'm starting a book blog and then
I'll be posting videos," and you stand by my side.

I guess the thing I'm trying to say
Is I honestly, truly love you all.
I wish I could find some way to repay
The love you've given me from my first call.

We've never met and it's not guaranteed
That we will in the future face-to-face,
But know that I love you and obviously
I'm thankful for you every day.

Love,
Deserae
P.S. I finished DITCHED and the ending really made the book for me. It's one of those stories that is good and I'm glad I read! But I probably won't read it over and over again. I did like it and you will see my official review for it in the second week of March, but if you're planning to read it, too, for My Ticket Elsewhere, know that:
-it wasn't as funny as I thought it would be
-it's one of those cute comedy of errors and is a cool love story once all the pieces are put together
-the order of telling goes back and forth CONSTANTLY from past and present (if you're bothered by that sort of thing)
-but the end really makes it worth it.
Will it go on my favorites of all times list? No. But it WILL go on my favorite YA Romance list. It's a great love story and I still recommend it, but with reservations because I know it won't be for everyone.

Arianna- Yay! I'm glad you're excited! I haven't told anyone about the you-know-what yet, but I am going to be doing short films--- that's what I was referring to. :] Good things ARE happening, aren't they? I promise not to stretch myself to thin. Pinky promise.

Nicole- Very cool! I checked out Cass, and I agree! Her videos are super cool. The person I was thinking about was Kaley Hyde (oh gosh, I know I'm spelling that wrong!). I'm excited to be presenting you guys videos, too. There will be more than one a month, but there will only be one scripted one a month (if that makes sense).

Sonal- I AM going to be a busy bee, but you're right! It'll be worth it. Free entertainment is the best kind. And I love the things I'm doing so it's fun for me--- I'm having fun getting everything set up and going. :) Pinky promise to keep you updated! Thanks for all of your support, Sonal.

Maya- Oh Lord, let us not even THINK about the number of blogs I'm attempting to do. Instead, let's think of the AWESOME I'm praying they'll produce. Books and film are important to me so why not, you know? I agree. Butterflies are SO much better! And I got a B on one of them so yay! B for Butterfly! I think it's a sign! :] Hehe! Thank you for complimenting my taste in books! I have this theory: pretty covers make pretty books. Which REMINDS ME!!!! Agh! I MUST show you the cover of this book coming out called SHADOW AND BONE. Look it up, Darling. FALL. IN. LOVE. It's GORGIE, no? Words cannot even express how wonderful I think it is. Love ya! And OH EM GEE, Maya. Sang commented on your blog. SQUEE!

Karly- Haha! Yes, we can totally share him. I'm so glad you know what I mean. Augustus is... perfect. PERFECT. He is the essence of love. But I know what you mean! He's so perfect for Hazel. I hate to want to rip him from her clutches but DUDETTE--- it's Gus!

Awards and General Loveliness

I went downtown today with my flatmate, Due, and, on top of getting to know her on a new level of awesome, I got my costume for the Halloween bash we're a'throwing. Pictures will come at a later date because A.) I'm exhausted and B.) I have awards to delve out!

Yes! When I got home, my first email notification for the blog This Blog has no Name arrived. And to my surprise, the lovely Sonal won an award AND decided to pass it along to Talia, Olivia, Tiffany, Miah, and (wait for it...) me! So Almost (not quite) There has been awarded the One Lovely Blog Award courtesy from Sonal (who was awarded it by Poppy) and the way this works is simple.
I post the award in my post. Check!
I then answer the following questions.
Then, I award it to others. I am so flattered and so thankful that words cannot describe this compilation of emotions I'm feeling.

Anywho. Onwards we march.

Part 1: Questions
1. What's your favourite colour?
I like most shades of blue and blue greens, so I'm going to cop out and say blue. Is that okay?

2. Name your favourite song.
Agh! This is hard. My favorite song RIGHT NOW is "I've Got this Friend" by The Civil Wars. However, yesterday it was "Something Good Can Work" by Two Door Cinema Club and the day before that was something entirely different. I don't like picking favorites!

3. Name your favourite dessert.
Mint chocolate chip ice-cream with Nutella and whipped cream (and sometimes cookie bits. Yum!).

4. What pisses you off?
I'm easily annoyed, so sometimes it's just me, but I really hate it when people try to belittle me or make me feel or look stupid, JUST to make themselves seems superior. That's lame, Folks. And SO Grade Three.

5. Your favourite pet?
I've loved all my pets. Tanger the Turtle. Snuggles the Hamster. And Momo the Kitty. I think my favorite pet is the one I have at the moment, so Amelia the Cat wins. I love kitties and she's such a grumpalumpagus.

6. Black or white?
White

7. Your biggest fear?
I'm afraid of failing. And yet, I do this on a daily basis so you'd think I'd be used to it.

8. Everyday attitude?
I'm always trying to stay positive. Either the cup is half full or it's twice as big as it needs to be. Hehe! I don't remember where I heard that. GREAT line.

9. Your best feature?
Like, physically? Oh, Lord... My pinky toe? I don't know!

10. What is perfection?
Perfection is the state of realizing that one doesn't have to be perfect in order to be their best.

11. What is your guilty pleasure?
Guilty? As in, I should feel bad about it? I don't know. I feel like I should feel bad about SO many things I like... like Dawson's Creek, my love for Euro music, and my obsession with whipped cream. But I don't. These are the things I love and essentially, they make me, me.

Part 2: 7 random things about me
1. I'm a procrastinator.
2. I sometimes put on an English accent because I think I'm cool like that.

3. I never do the things I'm supposed to do when I'm supposed to do them unless trouble will immediately follow in the case that I don't.
4. I hardly ever make sense (see above).
5. I mumble. And I do it on purpose because I'm always talking to myself but if I say things louder than a mumble, people start having opinions and what not. Who wants those?!
6. I am one of 5 children (and my brother is the only boy).
7. I love to learn (but I tend to dislike school. Bleh!).

Part 3: I award the One Lovely Blog Award to...

Maya
Victoria Schwab
Claire Legrand
and Bareha

If I could re-award this to Sonal and Talia, I would. But you know where to find them, now, so find them you must! I hope you all had a lovely weekend and I will talk to you guys at Home, Elsewhere, or here tomorrow. Thanks, Poppy! And thanks a million, Sonal.

Love,
Deserae <3
P.S. Oh! As Maya pointed out, this is my 50th post! What a wonderful way to celebrate. With awards! Woot!

Apologies, Questions, and Pictures

Hello, Everyone! Happy Thursday.

I'm feeling a little discombobulated. Can you believe summer is nearing its end? Some of you are starting school already. Some of you are out of school forever! I'm somewhere in between. That is, there are about 30 days left until I start my first year of college. Oi vey! If this post sounds all over the place, that's because it is. As am I. As are you. WE are all over the place. It's time we learn to embrace that.

First off, APOLOGIES! For everyone waiting for reviews on Figment. I did about ten or eleven reviews in a three day period last week and totally burned out. Now I can keep doing that, OR I can readjust my reviewing schedule so each of you gets your reviews. I think I'll do that later, thank you very much. Starting Saturday, I'll start reading again.

Secondly, QUESTIONS. Do any of you listen to Two Door Cinema Club? Don't they make you want to dance? Don't you want to spread their awesomeness by listening to songs like this? Or this? Or THIS?! Click any one of those if you're brave. It takes a singing-dance-aholic to really want to listen to TDCC. Also, has anyone seen The Help? I want to so badly. SO, so badly. And also, also (yes, I totally just went there), I'm wondering if any of you ever wake up in the morning and think things like me. Like, "If it's cloudy today, is that some sign from the cosmos that I'm better off staying in bed?" Or, "If I am only one person in one city in one state in one country, how the heck can anyone know or care about little 'ole me?" I told you this would be random. I warned you it would be. But these are the types of questions my mind is burdened with. What usually burdens your mind?

Last but not least, PICTURES. I don't usually put pictures of me up or whatever. Not full on, anyways (as you've seen). Usually, it's because I don't think I'm very photogenic, but most of the time, it's because I worry that if I don't put up the glamor shots, everyone is going to run away screaming. But I don't give you guys enough credit. Maybe the glamor shots are best suited for the celebrities. If I don't let you see me on even my worst hair days, how can I expect you to stick with me through them, too? So here is a picture of me and two other things. Just for kicks. :)

This is Desi trying to win Sweetly, by Jackson Pearce. She lost miserably. She wonders if the pout had anything to do with that, or the fact that the hat was covering her frizzes.

Isn't this cool?! It's the comic book version of Pride and Prejudice! I almost fainted when my sister showed it to me. If only I could find the other four in the series... this is the third installment!

Finally! My sister's 16th birthday was on the 23rd, and she finally opened Victoria Schwab's package of amazingness. I was so honored to have that thing sitting on my bed. Ain't it purhty?

Yes folks. Sometimes Life is amazing. It seems like I say that a lot, but you just don't know how grateful I am for every new day. And that is why I leave you with this video. "Just let it go, let it go, let it go..."

Love!
Deserae

Another Day

Agh! It's Monday! I used to be happy about Mondays because Switched at Birth would come on and I could do more Sean Berdy swooning and what-not, but NOW?! NOW The Lying Games has taken its place! And Mondays have become Glumdays once more. Who needs Mondays anyway?

But more to the point, I am just glad to have woken up to another beautiful day. The fact is, I am always grateful to wake to see the sun. To hear my mom yelling. To feel the carpet under my toes when I finally lug myself out of bed. It's a good thing to be able to have your health. To find yourself a member of a new day. To have the luxuries of a computer screen nearby and food in the fridge.

Sometimes, I feel like even the bad things are worth it. I know... that's when you KNOW your grateful, right? But if I didn't know a little hardship, I wouldn't be able to appreciate days like this. Even if they are Mondays. And even if all I have to do is type, type away hoping someone else is thankful for this new day, too.

Love,
Deserae
